8 by 7″ watercolor on paper. Death Valley, a section of road where several highways intersect and run together for a short while through Greensboro, North Carolina. Drive this every week day.
This painting is the second place winner in the 2010 BAL Small Arts Competition.
I walked through this lovely little park to get from the school to downtown Ludwigsburg. I loved these houses, and the tree-lined path – It reminded me a little of the woody landscapes of North Carolina.
The Denkendorf I saw was mostly residential… I had a friend that lived there. I think this watercolor was done from a photo that was one of the first that I took over in Germany, in the first week I was there. Behind the hedges on the right are houses, and I think this photo was shot from someone’s back yard. I remember learning the German word for beautiful, and I just kept saying “Schön!” over and over because I couldn’t figure out anything else to say!

This was done from a photo – one of the first photos I snapped in Germany. I got off the train and was so intrigued. I’ve never really gotten to use such an efficient mass-transit system before.

I did this painting sitting across the street from this house. I just love the fachwerk. I actually learned the german word for the Half-timber / beam-construction before I figured out what to call it in english.
I gave this painting to Simone, a friend of mine in Germany. I think it’s one of my favorites.
